Pennsylvania’s Plan of Safe Care was created with a deep commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of infants who are born exposed to substances during pregnancy, or who may be facing challenges related to fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. The plan plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable infants and their families. However, we understand the journey can be overwhelming, often complicated by communication barriers and gaps in patient education. These challenges can lead to feelings of anxiety and mistrust among families, making it difficult for them to fully engage in the process. This, in turn, can affect the outcomes for both mothers and their little ones.
The Healthy MOMS Program offers a compassionate approach using motivational interviewing techniques. Our approach not only provides essential support for mothers as they navigate the Plan of Safe Care, but also fosters a nurturing environment where trusting relationships can flourish. By truly listening to their needs and concerns and collaborating on a personalized plan, we empower mothers to become strong advocates for the safety and well-being of their children.
Together, we can create a path toward hope and healing for these families. Mothers in our program explain how the Plan of Safe Care supported them in their recovery journey and raising their children.
